The story of Caesars Southern Indiana is a microcosm of modern American gaming . It began in the 1990s when Indiana law required casinos to be riverboats, creating a unique design challenge. Steelman Partners was tasked with designing the resort's crucial land-based experience, a vision centered on a 503-room luxury hotel that would serve as the gateway to the entire complex. This foundational plan would not only define the guest experience for decades but also prove to be the project's most enduring asset.Chapter One: A Unified Resort Experience
Opening in 1998, the resort was a spectacle, featuring the M/V Glory of Rome, the largest riverboat casino in North America. Our master plan seamlessly integrated this floating marvel with a comprehensive, Roman-themed land-based destination. The hotel served as the grand entrance, welcoming guests into the immersive world of Caesars and connecting them effortlessly to the energy of the casino. This holistic approach ensured that from the moment of arrival, visitors felt they were in a single, world-class resort.Chapter Two: The Evolution to Land
The legislative landscape of gaming is always in motion. When a 2015 law allowed for fully land-based casinos, the property's owners made a landmark $90 million investment in a new gaming facility. In 2019, the celebrated riverboat was retired as the resort evolved into a new era, rebranding back to its prestigious original identity: Caesars Southern Indiana. Throughout this entire transformation, the original land-based master plan and luxury hotel designed by Steelman Partners has remained the constant anchor.The Design Legacy: A Foundation for the Future
